Icelandic Lambs 2008 -- newest lamb July 29th!

Here's a Summary and Photos of our first Lambing Season, Spring 2008.

This page updated July 29, 2008

April 4th, Eva started us off with twins! A 6lb black grey ewe lamb and a 5.5lb solid moorit ram lamb.  A great first-time mom!  Sire is Amos. These lambs are linebred Ari Leadersheep lines. Ewe lamb is reserved, ram lamb is available.

April 9th, Kit gave us a 5.5lb white ram lamb out of Visirson.  Unfortunately, we lost the little guy the next day. This photo, however, is my favorite from this year's lambing season!  Kit was a great mom!

April 15th, Mia surprises us with an 8.5lb moorit mouflon spotted ram lamb out of Bjorn! We were surprised because I didn't think Mia had taken in breeding with Bjorn! And, another surprise... Mia carries spotting!  And, the best surprise of all how wonderful this lamb is... the best lamb fleece in the crop and an awesome build!!  He's 5 days old in this picture. This ram lamb is reserved.

May 1st, Ada delivered an 8.5lb black grey spotted ram lamb unassisted.  This ram lamb is out of Thimbleberry Farm's Leonardo. Another yearling ewe does a great job! This ram lamb is available.

May 20th, This afternoon we found Tika lambing this 8lb black grey ram lamb out of Amos.  He was up and moving in minutes, Mom had to chase him to clean him off.  Tika is another great first-time Mom. This lamb is available

April 6th, Muffin had black spotted twins!  A 6lb ewe lamb and 8lb ram lamb.  The ram lamb came breech and didn't survive.  This little gal is a combination of some great genetics, including Mjaldur, Rektor, Morro & Ari!  Sire is Amos.  This ewe lamb is reserved.

April 12th brought our first triplets! Angel had triplet ram lambs out of Visirson. And, they were huge, almost 30lbs of horn-budded ram lamb!  As you can imagine, Angel needed help with this delivery.  We lost the first 9# white ram lamb.  And, miraculously the 9# moorit grey ram lamb and 10# white ram lamb are doing great! The photo here is the two of them at a week old.  We also found out from these lambs that Visirson carries moorit! One of these ram lambs will be available.

April 26th, after a bit of a lambing break, we found Keeley cleaning off this 6.5lb solid moorit (with lots of "flashing") ewe lamb.  Her sire is Amos.  This ewe lamb is reserved.

May 2nd, Estelle, 11 months old, delivered black grey twins!  A 6lb ram lamb and 4.5lb ewe lamb.  Their sire is Amos.  These lambs are also line-bred Ari Leadersheep.   Both lambs are available.

Update May 31, 2008:  The ewe lamb appears to be polled.  She has no sign of horn buds breaking through at 1 month old.  Both lambs are available.

July 29, 2008 1PM - Athena finally delivers a beautiful solid black ewe lamb.  This girl was up and jumping right away, of course she's half-grown at 10lbs!  She ties the record for largest 2008 lamb born here at Mulberry Grove Farm.  Her sire is Thimbleberry Farm's Leonardo.

That wraps up our 2008 lambing season!  We had 10 ram lambs and 5 ewe lambs!
